This  is a great opportunity for early-career Journalists to start a career with one of the most influential newspapers in the world based in New York, USA. Young Journalists with some years of experience and recent college graduates can also apply. More details are below.

  • Working Locations: USA, UK. Most fellows will be based in the New York headquarters, but some positions may be available in our Washington, San Francisco, and London offices.
  • Funded by: The New York Times. The Annual base pay range of this Fellowship is from USD 82,414.04 to USD 82,414.80.
  • Duration: One Year
  • Deadline: 19th November 2025
  • When the Fellowship Will Start?: The program, which is for early career journalists, is slated to begin on June 1, 2026, and end on May 21, 2027.
  • Number of Fellowships: About 30 fellows per year, although the number may vary.
  • Type of Job:  The fellows will work in reporting, photography, graphics, design, video, audio, audience engagement, and opinion writing.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Fellows are allowed to work for One year.
  • The Positions are based in the UK and the USA.
  • Fellows with more than five years of experience in Journalism can not apply.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States or the United Kingdom.
  • The New York Times does not sponsor new work visas. However, they may consider applicants with existing work visas or valid student visas that can be extended through Optional Practical Training.
