Summerbridge is a non-profit organization with the mission of improving the educational trajectories of underprivileged students by providing them with tuition-free quality English language education and life skills development opportunities. Primarily, our main services involve having older students from around the world, ages 16 to 22, come together for 7 weeks and provide a unique experience for our younger Summerbridge students, ages 13 to 15. The program is English-immersion, and aims to expose students to diverse subjects and to build different life skills, like confidence, teamwork, and leadership, all in a positive and supportive environment that emphasizes ideas like empathy, curiosity, and emotional well-being. The two videos in the following pages will hopefully give you an idea of the Summerbridge environment, its participants and the services we provide.

Introduction to Summerbridge Hong Kong

The Student Teacher Experience (Summerbridge Hong Kong)

Summerbridge recruits students, ages 16 to 22, from universities and international schools in Hong Kong and overseas to teach during the summer. Working together with a diverse group of peers from around the world, student teachers make a profound impact on the students they teach. Not only do student teachers experience the joys of teaching; they also further develop skills and insights in leadership, project organization, and community service. Previous teaching experience is not required as Summerbridge provides an orientation period at the beginning of the summer that includes workshops on curriculum design, lesson planning, and assessment.

We are always looking to connect with more students and recent secondary school graduates in the city to find talented and dedicated student teachers for our summer program. If you are interested in helping us spread the word about this opportunity, the following material can be shared with your alumni community.
