Dear OKs,

I have known Maureen as a friend and a colleague for over 40 years both in Hong Kong and Phuket where she and her husband Gareth spent the winter months.

Maureen joined Kellett School in September 1985, from Stanley Fort School, and her impact was felt profoundly by all who had the privilege of learning from her.

Maureen began teaching Year 5, bringing a vibrant energy and an innovative approach to the classroom. Her ability to engage students was extraordinary. Through the use of the adventure game ‘Granny’s Garden,’ she introduced her pupils to the educational possibilities of computers, sparking their curiosity and imagination. Her storytelling prowess shone brightly as she read Terry Nation's ‘Rebecca’s World’, transporting students to a fantastical planet filled with adventure and challenges.

Students often referred to her as "the best teacher ever," a testament to the genuine connections she forged and the unwavering support she provided. Maureen’s passion for teaching and her dedication to her students created an environment where learning was not just about academics, but about nurturing a love for exploration and creativity.

Maureen Davies will be remembered not only for her innovative teaching methods and the joy she brought to her classroom but also for the lasting impact she had on her students’ lives. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her and the generations of students she touched.
